I am well versed in various modelling processes and regularly use them to build scenes on both large and small scales in multiple states, like ruined or intact, for our school’s Warhammer club and my external D&D club, for which I regularly design and write out our various locations within the campaign which Is where I regularly draw my more fantastical ideas from.
However, most of my 3D painting experience comes from my slow improvement with painting Warhammer miniatures and their bases, where I started my interest in terrain and dioramas.
In most dioramas, I have painted and made most of the things included; I print set dressings from my 3D printer. Sometimes, I make and print them myself. Still, the primary source I get my miniatures from is Games Workshop, renowned for creating high-quality but expensive miniatures that can be purchased from reliable 3rd party sellers.I usually spend up to three days painting a mini to a higher quality and one or two for a 5-6 man group to a lower quality, touching up details once I’m in the painting flow. This is usually to add a miniature to a diorama, which, if not rushed, can take the same time as a high-quality mini.I sketch somewhat regularly, but it interrupts my flow, so I mostly mark a page I follow, leaving almost no trace. I typically put together a bunch of photos into a document and pull them up as I draw, then use the few sketches I do individually to inspire the end product.I went into a phase of technical sketches that continually inspire me with my 3d modelling of ships to this day.I exported my models to my printer, which was broken at the time of writing and will soon be fixed.I build most of my ships in a game called Space Engineers, which is compatible with most 3d modelling programs, allowing me to export and modify them in those programs easily. All the landscapes I have painted or made are from my family’s various trips to Cornwall, Scotland and Tenerife, which all have fascinating landscapes.I then use my art and models to write the occasional short story. I have notes for several at the moment and am writing one.
